About the Author
MONI MOHSIN is the author of two previous books, Duty Free (which like The Diary of a Social Butterfly is based on her hit column in Pakistan's Friday Times) and another novel, The End of Innocence. Born in Pakistan, she lives in the UK.

Very funny but gets monotonous

I picked up this book a couple of years ago while on a trip to India because the cover looked attractive (yeah yeah! I judged the book by its cover.. whatya gonna do?!?) But once I started reading it, I was absolutely hooked. This book is 'laugh out loud' funny. Having grown up in New Delhi, I have come across people who are like the main character in the book, so I thoroughly enjoyed the situations, sarcasm and the language used by the author.
However, the book tends to get monotonous and would mainly appeal only to those who have lived in Northern India/Pakistan.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for something light and funny to read.

Fabulous Read

I recently read both the Diary of a Social Butterfly as well as Tender Hooks and loved the books. I could not put these books down till I had finished reading them completely. Moni Mohsins writing is natural, realistic (for those who know the true socialites of Pakistan) and really resonates with the moderates, both religously as well as politically. I hope that she continues to write about some of the very serious things she touches upon by using her straight shooting prose! Keep it up....i look forward to the next book.

funny but one sided

Slap stick comedy writing. "Several times I tau fell off my chair only. "
But characters were unidimensional which can get tiring for a book, but may have been just perfect for the newspaper column that this started out as.
"Tender Hooks" is supposed to be the author's best work yet. I may try that next.
