About the Author
Mikhail Katsnelson is a Professor and head of the Theory of Condensed Matter group at the Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University, in The Netherlands. His fields of expertise are magnetism, electronic structure and quantum many-body theory and after the discovery of graphene, he became one of the leaders in this new field. Professor Katsnelson is the author of several books including Quantum Solid State Physics (with S. V. Vonsovsky, Springer, 1989) and has been awarded a Russian State Prize for young researchers. He has also been honoured with royal decoration as a Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion.

Could be more educational

The book by M. I. Katsnelson is a good book and brings the essential research that is being conducted with graphene. However, the book is not self-contained and, in many occasions, the reader needs to download research papers to understand what the author is talking about. In addition to that, it would be very hard for a beginner to understand the topics in the book. It is a good book if you are already working in the area but it would not be a book for undergraduate and 1st year PhD students
In addition to that, the book seems to have some misprints and the constants in the equations sometimes do not produce the desired result.

Excellent - from one of the main contributiors

This is excellent book on graphene theory by one of the main contributors in the field. If you want to publish (theoretical) papers about graphene, you will need to work out this book. The author has published long ago a book on (intermediate) condensed matter physics which you can use as a supplement - it contains all the prerequisites to fully understand this text. Anyway, this is the book that any physicist should have on his bookshelf.
