Interesting read on leadership. The positive is that there are really some new thoughts here.
1. Leadership as a work stream - It is not just a skill or talent. It is a "work" that can be mapped and adapted in each situation
2. The NEW competitive advantage is in horizontal collaboration and cooperation and collaboration. Driving vertical decision making and leadership is insufficient in the new world.
3. There is a simple process to drive points 1 and 2. The authors phrase it as 4 simple questions. This is the real power of the book.

The negative is the first section of the book. It spends too much time on the context in which we operate today. If you are a reasonably competent manager, skip the first section and get right to the heart of the book.

Normal Teen Content

My daughter is a Mal fanatic. She wanted this for Christmas, but it was sold out everywhere. I was finally able to get it, and since other moms had expressed concerns about the content being appropriate, I decided to read it first.

I'm VERY protective of her, and probably shield her more than I should. She's 7, so I did initially have concerns about the content being too mature. I found that the content was very normal and appropriate for kids, especially preteen/teen, which was the perspective from which it was written.

You know your kid. If you find Austin & Ally to be too mature for your child, this book might be too mature for them, also. Otherwise, I don't see an issue. If you're concerned, read it first. If your child has a pretty good grasp on life, I didn't see anything in it that they would need shielded from seeing.

I was on the fence to buy this book for my 6 year old because of some of the reviews. I knew she was not going to understand it as she is a new reader but I wanted to get it for her anyway. It is Mal's spell book and she loves using the new hair spell on me. Anyway I saw it in a book section of store and thought it wasn't that bad as some reviews made it seem. It is Malificient's old spell book and thought it is great for any villian fan to have. I don't suspect my daughter will even blink at this book in a year or two and even if she does I haven't seen anything that will scare her or make her uncomfortable.

Looks amazing purchased for my little cousin and she absolutely loved it. Only negative is she got upset because the spells did not actually work( she's only 5). She now just pretend the spell work. Would recommend for anyone who has a family member who enjoys the movie.

About the Author
NED G. ANDREWS won the 1994 Scripps National Spelling Bee, then known as the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. In addition to placing 15th in 1992 and 14th in 1993, he served on the SNSB’s competition staff for six years. Following his win, the SNSB asked his mother and coach, Carolyn Andrews, to join its word panel and author the online study program Carolyn’s Corner. After becoming word list manager and serving in that capacity for several years, she retired in 2010. Andrews holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Yale University (coincidentally Noah Webster’s alma mater). Following law school, he appeared on the NBC game show 1 vs. 100; throughout the show’s run, his record as the longest-lasting opponent of the show’s featured contestants remained unbroken. Andrews currently practices law in Virginia, where he and his wife reside with their three cats.

The book provides a wealth of tips on how to compete in a spelling bee. It also does a marvelous job of addressing both the good and the bad reasons to make spelling an intensive pursuit. Best of all, it provides detailed information on resources for serious competitors, which seem to be hard to locate in one spot elsewhere. It does not include any lists of words itself. That said, if you were to go through it with an eye to identifying good practice words, you would find an abundance of those -- Mr. Andrews' spelling experience shines in the extensive vocabulary he uses when writing. Clearly, his spelling bee championship experience served him well as he went off to law school and eventually became an attorney ; )

I need the 'dummies' version of this book.

I bought the kindle version of this book hoping to get some ideas how to prepare my child for a state spelling bee. This book was written by a lawyer and a former Scripps Spelling Bee Champ, and is written in a style you would expect from someone with that background. I find the writing dry, and hard to relate to, (similar to read through a bunch of legal documents or medical journals). Since I don't know anything about the spelling bee I thought this would be helpful, but I since I don't have the background that the author obviously has from his years of working with SNSB, his examples that he tries to explain, mean nothing to me. It would have been helpful to give some actual word examples and scenarios that parents and youth could understand and relate too. I'm giving it two stars because the price is great and I'm sure there's helpful information to those who have better working knowledge of spelling bees.

The Sweet Science of Sin

A great introduction into the many life styles and forms of pimping which go unnoticed by todays standards of the word pimp. I would recommend this over The Pimp Game: Instructional Guide by Mickey Royal. To me Alfred Bilbo Gholson has a better grip of what pimping means, he also represents a classier type of pimp, one who doesn't believe in drugs and violence as a means of pimping.

This may well be the worst book ever "written"

I'm as fascinated with sex, prostitutes and pimps as the next guy; I have a small collection of (more-or-less scholarly) books on such, in fact. Unfortunately, the Pimp's Bible is unreadable and uninformative; it redefines the word "boring". In keeping with such, even the photographs appear to be Xeroxes. There's nothing here, folks. Absolutely nothing.

Watson Delivers Again

Kira McGinnis is a spirited psychologist working for the local police department. Her latest patient is a handful. Detective Jake Donovan was involved in a shooting and needs to get cleared for duty. Kira finds it difficult to get the man into her office for the mandatory session, and his boss is hounding her to get him back on the street.

The situation with her new patient gets complicated when her younger brother gets in trouble at a bar. She finds out Brian is one of the troubled kids Jake works with at the local high school. It gets harder for Kira to maintain a professional distant from Jake when he keeps showing up to help with Brian, and then, to see her. The attraction is mutual, but she remains conflicted for many reasons, not the least being the welfare of her young daughter.

If they can get past the obstacles that threaten to tear them apart, Kira and Jake will have a chance for a happy future. Will they make the necessary choices to seek out the happiness they deserve?

In Family First, Watson delivers another sweet and very human love story. Her characters are personable and realistic, each strong in their own way. This is the kind of story that reminds readers that it IS possible to find romance and a happy ending in every day life. It's a fine addition to the Harlequin Super Romance line.

"The story centers on Kira McGinnis, a psychologist who works for the police department, and her patient, police detective Jake Donovan, who killed a man in self defense and must undergo counseling before he can return to active duty. Jake resents Kira, who has no patience for him, refusing to give the all clear because he won't cooperate in their sessions. This angers Jake and his superior, Captain Crowley, who wants Jake back on the job.

Kira is a single mother with a five-year-old daughter, as well as responsibility for a troubled teenage stepbrother. Kira and Brian were orphaned when her father and his mother were killed in a car accident, an accident which Brian survived. Kira has been taking care of Brian since their parents' death, and now has a daughter as well, whose father walked out on Kira as soon as he found out she was pregnant. Jake has vowed never to get involved in a serious relationship, for reasons he rarely discloses. There is a lot of sexual tension, and hot and heavy scenes, between Kira and Jake, though each knows the other is not looking for a commitment." -- Complete review at BookLoons - M. Lofton

A novel that kept me intrigued and interested because of it's diverse set of characters. I especially liked Brian, Kira's stepbrother, as well as Kira's cute daughter Lexie. Recommended.

Strong story, wonderful romance

I really enjoyed this romance novel. The characters have strengths and flaws and quirks, just like people you know in real life. Although they're attracted to each other, they have real conflicts keeping them apart, things they can't fix easily with a conversation. I've stayed away from series romances in recent years because they kept disappointing me. Not this time. I'm going to keep an eye out for more books from Margaret Watson.

Interesting book but falls short

A lot of basic and generalized information is in this book. I did find some gems worth noting, but nothing that was out of the ordinary. Exercising the Penis is a great book for men who want to enlarge themselves. This and Iron Man Penis are the only two books I would recommend for men who are serious about enlargement. By serious, I mean, that men who are willing to take the time and energy to enlarge themselves. Enlargement doesn't happen on its own. Best of luck, to all you men out there. Don't give up hope. Enlargement is possible with the correct manual.
