New Thinking on Leadership ... Gaining a New Competitive Advantage

Interesting read on leadership. The positive is that there are really some new thoughts here.
1. Leadership as a work stream - It is not just a skill or talent. It is a "work" that can be mapped and adapted in each situation
2. The NEW competitive advantage is in horizontal collaboration and cooperation and collaboration. Driving vertical decision making and leadership is insufficient in the new world.
3. There is a simple process to drive points 1 and 2. The authors phrase it as 4 simple questions. This is the real power of the book.
The negative is the first section of the book. It spends too much time on the context in which we operate today. If you are a reasonably competent manager, skip the first section and get right to the heart of the book.
This is part of the newest thinking on management from a number of the top strategy firms. This book substantially adds to the dialogue and to the process of how you implement in business. We simply must learn how to drive leadership horizontally in business in order to succeed.
