Zita West combines her practice of midwifery with a firm belief in holistic principles. Good starter info for moms interested in a natural pregnancy and childbirth!

I loved this book when I was pregnant with my son 11 years ago. The information in it at the time was cutting edge- for example Zita West suggests that moms take DHA supplements and this was not commonly suggested at the time, like it is now. I also loved the nutrition and yoga advice and also enjoyed the aromatherapy and alternative health suggestions. That being said, a lot of what is covered in this book is mainstream now (finally!!!) and so it makes this book a good introduction to what is available today, but there more current books that have more exhaustive information. I still like it, but I don't really use it this time around as much as I did the first time i owned it.

Pretty pictures don't cut it.

I enjoyed this book, however, it has too many glossy, unrealistic pictures that take the place of meaningful text. I found the book the Natural Pregnancy Book by Aviva Jill Romm to be much more helpful, insightful and thorough.
PS. Kate Winslet is only in the introduction, a good one at that.
